Matrox Video’s ConvertIP Awarded in Rai Framework Agreement Supporting IP Modernization Strategy
MONTREAL — March 17, 2026 — Matrox Video today announced that the Matrox ConvertIP Series of encoders/decoders and converters has been awarded a three-year framework agreement supporting Rai’s ongoing transition from SDI to SMPTE ST 2110-based broadcast infrastructure. Working in collaboration with local systems integration partner Allyn Srl, Matrox Video supported the tender process and solution development that led to the framework agreement award.
As Rai (Radiotelevisione Italiana) continues to evolve its broadcast operations toward IP, the organization is adopting ST 2110 workflows to support greater flexibility across production and playout environments.

Under the framework agreement, the Matrox ConvertIP Series will support gateway and monitoring requirements within Rai’s developing IP ecosystem. The ConvertIP DSS and DSH models provide compact, standalone signal conversion and monitoring capabilities, supporting both SDI and HDMI interfaces and enabling broadcasters to bridge legacy and IP infrastructures with broadcast-grade reliability.
ConvertIP supports practical IP migration use cases, including signal transmission and reception in smaller environments, quad-split monitoring applications, and inter-site media transport. Its standalone design allows broadcasters to introduce ST 2110 incrementally without large-scale infrastructure replacement. By enabling SDI- and HDMI-to-ST 2110 conversion, the solution helps broadcasters adapt workflows without compromising quality or operational control.

The framework award followed a competitive technical evaluation process, with ConvertIP meeting Rai’s requirements for standalone gateway functionality and monitoring in a standards-based ST 2110 environment.
