Deploy flexible, scalable, secure configurations - easily
Whether deployed as point-to-point extenders or as KVM over IP, KVM extenders offer the flexibility to adapt to your installations as demands change. With the power to create flexible, scalable, and secure KVM matrix-routing using standard network switches, Extio 3 enables you to easily expand your installations with confidence and without costly upgrades to help future proof your investment.
Fast multi-monitor, multi-system control
View and operate four source computer systems from any Extio receiver unit and control them with a single keyboard and mouse set. Seamlessly shift control from one target source system to another simply by moving your mouse across a multi-screen desktop.
With Aggregator Mode, you can shift from the current desktop to the next by moving the mouse freely across multiple desktops. For an even more efficient way to control multiple KVM systems, the Tile View feature enables you to display up to four separate systems on one 4K or FHD monitor.
Secure KVM control
A non-intrusive solution, Extio 3 doesn’t require any additional software installation on the source system. It also features multiple built-in safety protections to prevent security gaps in the safeguarding of sensitive information:
- Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) to encrypt KVM signals transmitted between transmitter and receiver units.
- USB encryption and device management to block or authorize USB 2.0 devices.
- Integration with Microsoft® Active Directory® and with an IPSec (Internet Security Protocol) VPN client to ensure secure KVM extension over the internet.
High availability & redundancy
Build redundancy and fault tolerance into your installations. Supporting a distributed model of operation, Extio 3 removes single point of failure by storing all device settings and connectivity rules in each transmitter and receiver unit. Extio 3 appliances also feature two network interface ports that are configurable for link redundancy.
The ultimate IP KVM for Broadcast and Media
Matrox Extio 3 IP KVM extenders offer broadcast environments with a best-in-class KVM extension and switching solution. Working with standard COTS network switches, Extio 3 enables a scalable and cost-effective KVM matrix solution over IP. With Extio 3’s Aggregator Mode, you can access up to four systems simultaneously, and switch between sources with just a single keyboard and mouse.
Fits into any environment
Designed for collaborative workspaces, Extio 3 is ideal for any control room setting. And its 1U, ½ rack design means Extio 3 can fit into any rack mount or mounted under a desk or to the side of a cabinet.
Always powered. Always on.
Safeguard against a potential loss of power. Matrox makes available rack-mounted, multi-output redundant power supply units (RPSU) to ensure uninterrupted operation of your Matrox device in case of a power module failure and a redundant power input in case a circuit breaker trips.
Built on a highly optimized, ultra-low-bitrate encoding platform, Extio 3 enables KVM extension and switching applications over LAN, WAN, or Internet. The high-performance IP KVM extender allows users to readily access any system—located at home or in the workplace—for secure collaborative workflows between teams in different locations.
Ease of integration
With Extio 3’s industry-leading technology, users can leverage existing IT networking equipment and standard 1 Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure for seamless deployment and operations, extending up to four video signals using a single copper or fiber optic cable to reduce installation costs. Matrox Extio 3 KVM extenders fit readily into certified systems with plug and play deployment; there is no need to install additional software. Extio 3 IP KVM transmitter units are designed to optimize available space, and come either as a rack-mountable appliance or an integrated PCIe® card.
Extio Central Manager is an intuitive, easy-to-use software to remotely configure, manage, and monitor all Extio 3 units from a central location on the network. An on-screen display (OSD) on Extio 3 receiver appliances allow operators to conveniently preview all authorized computer desktops—readily identifiable via thumbnail previews—to instantly access and switch between multiple systems.
Extio 3 includes several essential features that help organizations to build redundancy and fault tolerance into their installations. Supporting a distributed model of operation, Extio 3 removes single point of failure by storing all device settings and connectivity rules in each transmitter and receiver unit. Extio 3 appliances also feature two network interface ports that are configurable for link redundancy. Through its patented technology, Extio 3 intelligently adjusts its internal processing parameters to deliver a resilient KVM system that minimizes downtime, favoring continuous operation.
MORE ABOUT HIGH AVAILABILITY
Access and control systems from any remote location on the IP network—and maximize information flow for improved collaboration and decision making. Display Extio 3 video streams on a central video wall powered by Matrox Mura IPX Series for effective visualization. Make use of the proxy stream1—a dedicated secondary video stream compatible with virtually all H.264 software and hardware decoders—for recording part of the desktop on a network storage device or sharing a screen with other user stations, video walls, and mobile devices.

Enhanced KVM security & monitoring
Matrox Extio 3 Series safeguards installations by using HTTPs, a secure communication protocol for control commands over the network. Extio 3 encrypts the transmitted AV and USB signals and protects the desktop content. Extio 3 also easily integrates with Microsoft® Active Directory® services and allows IT managers to use existing Active Directory accounts for user authorization and authentication. Compatible with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Extio 3 devices can be monitored through third-party network management software.
Centrally manage all Extio 3 networked IP KVM devices
Secure, centralized management of all networked Extio 3 IP KVM extenders is overseen through Matrox Extio Central Manager, an easy-to-use software to configure, manage, and monitor Extio 3 transmitter and receiver units. Extio Central Manager delivers smart control over the network, with an intuitive interface that facilitates discovery of networked Extio units, manages connections, and offers options to set up device parameters.
APIs and white-label options for ultimate flexibility
Integrators and developers gain command-level access to build personalized Extio Central Manager applications and/or integrate Extio 3 functionality into existing or even third-party applications. White-label options let OEMs and integrators customize the appearance of the Extio Central Manager user interface for easy re-branding of Matrox software with enterprise naming, logos, colors, and identity.
